The purpose of the book is to tell the beginning student of advanced mathematics the basic set theoretic facts of life, and to do so with the minimum of philosophical discourse and logical formalism. The point of view throughout is that of a prospective mathematician anxious to study groups, or integrals, or manifolds. From this point of view the concepts and methods of this book are merely some of the standard mathematical tools; the expert specialist will find nothing new here. Scholarly bibliographical credits and references are out of place in a purely expository book such as this one. Wendell Potter is a hero for putting himself and his knowledge of how the system really works out there for the public to understand. Just tried it out on our granddaughter--whoohoo!!!! She enjoyed the whole process and learned her piano keys! It works!! Thank you Samantha Perkins! What a novel idea--genius!. I'm also not a fan of drawing out a sex scene for page filler by constant talk or minute description to slow things down. If I ever get around to building a model railroad of the CV, the pictures in this book and the track drawings available at the Archives will be my complete guide.
If you like RR's, and you're from the Valley, you will definitely like this book.. I would recommend it to anyone who is interested in this subject.. And I have to say, it's not just fun for the kids--it's fun for the parents as well. Read this book and with good solid work produce bumper harvests
