Was docked points on my grade for this class because I couldn't do the assignments that required those pages. Thus, most chapters concern the details of how Russia could or could not manage to supply its faroff colony. It is worth "reading" though because it shows a lot about blocking and construction.. It's not like this is a coffee table book or a light read, but for academics it's a must-have. The motivation was neither altruism or socialism, but to provide leverage against the labor and socialist movements of the day. But, hey, like most geniuses, Jensen is not known for his emotional balance.
All books have weaknesses, just as all authors have weaknesses, and having met Jensen on more than one occasion and sat in on many of his lectures around the country, I am very much aware that the overall importance of his thought far outweighs the single-minded, dam-demolition-obses
