I especially enjoyed reading about the bratty `twelve year old' mother! Since Lily's mother can't remember her adulthood and acts like a child, Lily comes to understand her mother more. Why? Because it doesn't work like that. It's plastic so it doesn't get ruined when he sucks and drools on it.
