From the Back Cover Santos, the folk art of the Santero (maker of saint images), are depictions of religious figures in the form of bultos (carvings in the round) or retablos (paintings on wooden panels). The Santero is usually a self-taught craftsman who utilizes handmade tools to fashion representations of the saints dear to his family and community. These figures and objects are usually made from pine, aspen, cedar or cottonwood root. Yeso (gesso) is first applied and the paints made from vegetal and mineral products are used to finish the piece. This book makes a good companion to "What is a New Mexico Santo?" by Eluid Levi Martinez, also published by Sunstone Press.
REVIEW :
An interesting read for someone with open mind to how others perceive God and eternity.. It's about what Mr. Because of that, this whole "other" world had been opened to him, including the role his wife plays in it, unbeknownst to him. Characters come and go, are introduced and dismissed, like puppets in a box theatre.. This concept also applies to figuring out what your business offers that is better than anything else out there your "hedgehog." Once you know where your most profitable parts of the business lie, then you can start trimming out the parts that don't contribute to your growth.
Obviously, there are many more parts of Nirell's plan, and I could go on about it for a long time. That said, it also is a frustrating book and one that has some pretty significant flaws that should be kept in mind. It's a lesson Bernie learns from two sources. But, hey, like most geniuses
